The unmet need

34 million Americans suffer from nighttime dry mouth.

Xerostomia isn't just an inconvenience. For severe sufferers, reduced or absent saliva means waking every hour to sip water, chronic sleep deprivation, painful oral tissue, and rapid tooth decay. Existing remedies were never built for them.

Why it's so debilitating

A healthy person swallows about once a minute.

Saliva cleans the teeth, protects tissue, and maintains a neutral pH—500 to 1,000 times a day without a thought. When it stops, every one of those moments becomes a problem.

Healthy saliva

Effortless comfort

  • Daytime: ~60 swallows / hour
  • Mealtimes: ~300 swallows / hour
  • Cleans teeth and protects tissue
Mild xerostomia

Constant inconvenience

  • Dry, sticky feeling in the mouth
  • Impacts taste, swallowing and speech
  • Disrupts sleep; accelerates decay
Severe xerostomia

A crisis of quality of life

  • Forcible hydration every minute to hour
  • Sore throat, cracked tongue, mouth sores
  • Chronic sleep loss and bacterial infection
The HydroCoil system

One product that finally brings moisture to you—instead of drawing it from you.

Three simple parts work together. Everything in the fluid path is disposable and fully replaceable, and the coil rests in the natural folds of the mouth without straps or clips.

1

The wearable straw

A slender, self-retaining coil that distributes water evenly across the mouth—mimicking natural salivary flow. Adjustable sizing, disposable, and comfortable enough to wear all night.

2

The programmable pump

Delivers a gentle trickle on a set interval, or a larger flow on demand. Adjustable flow and timing, with battery or corded power for unattended overnight use.

3

Any water source

User-supplied. Works with a standard water bottle, hydration bladder, or the included reservoir—no proprietary refills required.

Designed for real life

Comfortable enough to forget it's there.

Does not affect speech

The coil rests out of the way of the tongue, so you can talk, drink, and even eat while wearing it.

Enables uninterrupted sleep

Set-and-forget overnight flow means no more waking every hour to sip from a nightstand.

Even, natural distribution

Mimics the disbursement and flow rate of real salivary glands across the whole mouth.

Fits any dentition

Works equally well with full teeth, dentures, or no teeth—and alongside TMJ, snoring, and whitening appliances.

CPAP compatible

Designed to be worn with a CPAP mask, oxygen cannula, or nasogastric tube without interference.

Economical

A modest pump price plus low-cost weekly disposables—competitive with the monthly spend on OTC remedies that don't work.

In use

One device, wherever dry mouth strikes.

From a full night's sleep to the last mile of a race to the recovery room—HydroCoil delivers moisture hands-free, no cup or straw required.

How it compares

The only option that works for severe dry mouth.

OTC rinses, lozenges, and prescription drugs stimulate salivary glands that already function. For patients with little or no saliva, that isn't enough.

Our story

Invented out of necessity, by the person who needed it most.

Dr. Loren Goldstein, DDS University of Illinois at Chicago · Private-practice dentist, 40+ years · Inventor

In 2011, while undergoing chemotherapy for chronic lymphocytic leukemia, I developed a side effect that permanently decimated my salivary function. I was miserable all day, but nighttime was the worst—so painful and debilitating that I literally could not sleep.

I searched everywhere for a product that could help me. Nothing did. So, drawing on a lifetime of understanding how the mouth works, I built a wearable straw that delivers moisture where it's needed, when it's needed.

I used to wake five times a night to sip water. Now I sleep through the night. I'm ready to bring this to the millions of others suffering from severe dry mouth.

Questions

Frequently asked

How is HydroCoil different from a standard mouthpiece?
Instead of a bulky mouthpiece, HydroCoil rests comfortably in place like a wearable straw. When you're thirsty, simply close your lips and sip—or let the pump deliver a gentle, steady flow overnight without any effort.
Can it be worn with a CPAP or a night guard?
Yes. HydroCoil is designed to work alongside CPAP masks, TMJ and snoring appliances, night guards, and whitening trays. It's actually recommended for CPAP users, who frequently experience dry mouth.
Will it help with snoring?
It can help. By keeping the oral tissues moist, HydroCoil reduces the tissue flutter that dryness contributes to. It is not a treatment for sleep apnea and doesn't replace prescribed therapy.
Is it comfortable to wear?
Most users find it nearly unnoticeable once sized correctly. The coil is slender and self-retaining, sitting in the natural folds of the mouth without straps or clips, and it doesn't interfere with the tongue or with speaking.
How often is the coil replaced?
The fluid path is fully disposable. With plain water and proper storage the coil stays fresh for several days; most users replace it every few days, or sooner when using anything other than plain water.
Is HydroCoil FDA cleared?
HydroCoil has completed an FDA Pre-Submission with minor comments and holds an issued U.S. utility patent. It is not yet FDA cleared for medical claims. The current focus is relief of dry-mouth symptoms; medical clearance is part of the planned regulatory pathway.
